Who Am I?
As a peripatetic Traveler, Explorer & Teacher, my life’s journey with clay began on the coast of California playing and experimenting in the Carmel River and at The Point Lobos State Reserve. This region is a laboratory of life and energy; an abundantly thriving and pulsating universe full of creative possibilities. Having spent many years abroad exploring Italy as well, has also had a significant impact on my creative impulse and aesthetic development. As a Teacher, Educator and Person of Faith, I have had the unique opportunity to travel, instruct and be inspired by amazing people found in indescribably beautiful places. The opalescent glow of a Della Robbia roundel, and the sun-drenched exposed rocks of a reseeding tide on the Adriatic, are the visual wonders that spiritually stir my imagination. My work is deeply personal and reflectaphorically bound with a sense of humor and larkiness.
The Hermeneutic of Clay
As clay passes through one’s hands, you are qualitatively and quantitively analyzing its potentiality to reflect your vision. You are not exclusively in control as it often has a mind of its own and a very reflexive memory. The journey into 'Terra Incognita' is as exhilarating and exciting as it is humbling. The extraction of meaning from the clay, is as important as the experience you have in doing so. In the end, your analysis is the intersection of your imagination with the material in the happenstance of firing, which gives
rise to a beautiful and expressive whole.

Commissions
If you are interested in having a specific piece designed for your home, business or public foyer, please contact me via email and we can discus concepts, preliminary sketches and installation requirements. Shipping and mounting are both possible, especially for some of the larger low-relief oceanic & aquatic themed pieces.

The answers to design challenges lie within Nature itself. They are in abundance and call out for our reflection and interpretation. Our Universe is in a dynamic flux and we are partakers of the energy that it exudes. Living within the ambiguity and contradiction of our status, is an inherent part of our life's journey. Clay for me is a vehicle of expression and a mode of communication that records the sojourn I've been given.

Crab 30" x 40"

Big Title

Nautilus 45" x 30"
The phrase 'Festina Lente' has echoed through time as a call to express oneself authentically & enthusiastically but with a measured reserve of integrity and thoughtfulness. 'Making haste, slowly and carefully' requires a balance of mind and creative energy in harmony with one's external environment. This adage is germane in all that we do and believe about ourselves and the world. When 'The Crab Grabs the Fluttering Moth', it is done with great caution and care.
